1963 Mercedes Benz 600 Pullman from IXO

My love for limousines led me to this nice 1/43 IXO with just the right interior and exterior details for this  size .  I only wish the chrome trims where better simulated than using matte paint. I once owned the 1./18 scale from AutoArt and it was plainly humongous, the largest in my collection after the Bentley Queen's Limo. This model is in dark blue, but appears black in the photos

The Real thung

The Mercedes-Benz 600 was a high-end luxury limousine offered in several variants worldwide. Introduced in 1963 and first produced in 1964, th
e 1965 variant took the world of famous people and government leaders by storm as most leaders started using it as their state limo. Its competitors at the time were stretched  models of Rolls-Royce and Bentley, the Cadillac Fleetwood 75, Lincoln Continental Lehmann-Peterson, and the Chrysler Imperial Crown Ghia. Intended as chauffeur-driven.the Benz  600 line remains the company's flagship and most expensive model, positioned above the Mercedes-Benz W112. It is also known as the forerunner of the modern Maybach marque.

Mercedes Benz Nurburg 460 Pullman of 1928 - 1934

This model is a respectably detailed replica  of the real thing, with the 1935 model said to have been slightly altered to become the State limo of the Japanese Emperor Hirohito of Japan during WWII. Again, it feels plasticky as its undercarriage is made of  plastic.  No detailing on the interiors.

1932 Cadillac Fleetwood Limo from Autos de Epoca

Some bargains can yield a reasonably well crafted/detailed 1/43 model such as this 1932 Cadillac V16 452B Fleetwood Imperial Limo from Autos de Epoca, Just needs a few marker pens on the interior to put a brown color on black seats, and a little scraping off black body paint and window trim to define chrome lines without using silver markers.

Russian Vintage Limousine, 1939 Zis 102 Limo

Once in a while I get a cheap (pricewise) and plasticky 1/43 diecast that captured my fancy and gave me room to do some detailing on its body and interiors.  This De Agostino model of a Russian limousine, the Zis 102, said to have been the car used by Lenin and Stalin is one of them. The model has a excellent casting mold with deep lines that allowed for removing some paints to expose the metal to give an illusion of a chromed edge including door handles and hinges.

The original with an all black interior and poorly packaged,.  Had to use a different displace case.

1965 Lincoln Continental from Greenlight

As a kid, I have always been at awe at the simple lines of the Lincoln Continental sedan.  It first made an impression on me with TV footage of the President Kennedy and Jackie riding their stretch limo version in 1963 that made history.  Lately, I found some really realistic 1/43 scale from Greenlight, brand known to have some of the better 1/43 models of cars used in some Hollywood movies.  This is one of the few  boxy designs in automobile that caught my fancy.  There were a few more boxy Cadillacs and Lincolns in the 80s that also look good. but they never equaled the stately presence of the Lincoln Continental of the early to mid 1960s.  Here's is one from the Matrix movie.
I am just not enamored by having a model with the same color of body and interiors.  This model has a black interior that makes it difficult to see from any distance,.  I prefer to see some contracts between the two in my models. One of these day, I just might open this model and repaint the interiors matte white, light blue or maroon.
