I consider this 1/43 scale 1939 Horsh 853A Cabriolet model as among my favorites for its level of fine and generous detailing, especially in the interiors so important in an open convertible. It is from Minichamps I bought sometime in 2008 for P2,500, which was at par with many 1/18 models from Autoart and Kyosho (averaging just P2,000 apiece). However, it feels light and plasticky as the under chassis is not metal as one would find in many Matchbox and Signature models. Plastic underside has since been quite common in 1/43 models except for a few IXO , Ebbro and Signature models, among others,. The detailing is exquisite, I will let the pictures speak for themselves. .
This has got to be 1/43 model with the largest display box. I wanted to get more models in this series but the store did not carry anything else in its 1/43 lineup of vintage cars.
The 853-A is considered the most famous and admired of the huge Horsh 5-liter inline 8 cylinder powered sports cabriolet with features that made them favorite among European celebrities,.
Pictures of the real 1939 Horch Cabrio from several online sources. A strong competitor of another luxury German brand Mercedex Benz, Horch was a German car brand founded by August Horch & Cie at the beginning of the 20th century. It is one of the predecessors of the present day Audi company, More at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horch.
